Q. What is the minimum age to take the CFSC course? A. Students should be a minimum of 14 yrs old to take my 1 day course. This allows them to apply for a "Minors Permit" until they reach the age of 18 when they can apply for the PAL.
Q. How long does the PAL last? A. 5 years & then you need to re-apply.
Q. Can I challenge the written & practical test rather than take the class? A. NO. Effective June 2015, Bill C-42 changes to the Firearms Act & Criminal Code eliminated the ability to challenge the firearms course. Everyone must now take the course to apply for a firearms license.
Q. Do I really need to get a license? I only have a rifle & shotgun and the long gun registry is dead. A. YES. While Bill C-19 eliminated the long gun registry, you still require a license in order to possess and/or acquire firearms or ammunition.
Q. I have a non-restricted PAL and want to upgrade my license to purchase a restricted firearm. What do I do? A. You need to take the Restricted(CRFSC)Course so you qualify to apply for a Restricted PAL. Fill out a new application form and supply a new photo and pay a fee.
Q Will I get my money back if I can't attend the class I booked? A. NO. We will try and arrange for a different date but deposits are non-refundable.
Q .Once I have done the class and sent in my documents, am I gauranteed to receive my PAL/RPAL?
A. No, there is no gaurantee that you will get the PAL. We have no control over the process and there are no refunds if you don't receive it.
Q .Can an interpreter/translator be used for the CFSC/CRFSC course for students?
A. NO. Individuals cannot have a translator with them. Students may not use any aids (cellphones,
translation devices, interpreters, etc.) while taking the exams, as per CFO guidelines. The exams
MUST be done in English.
